Sanjeev Chopra - IAS (WB:1985) has taken over as Mission Director & Joint Secretary (NHM & NMMI), Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. Prior to this, he was Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Government of West Bengal.  He has also been the Secretary of the Rural Development, Horticulture, Industry, Information Technology, Panchayats and Co-operation in the Government of Uttarakhand.  

From 1996 to 2001, he was the Chairman, Faculty of Management and Co-ordinator of the Centre for Cooperatives and Rural Development at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. His earlier assignments include a tenure as the District Magistrate of Murshidabad, and CEO Himul, Darjeeling.

 Before joining the Indian Administrative Service in 1985, he worked for The Times of India and The Economic Times. He was awarded the Robert S McNamara (World Bank) and the Hubert H Humphrey fellowship in 1998 and 1999 respectively. He has also been a Guest Scholar at The Brookings Institution, Washington DC.

He received his PhD from the IMS, DAVV, Indore and has also studied at JNU, New Delhi, MDI, Gurgaon and the Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar.

Sanjeev Chopra worked at The Times of India and The Economic Times before joining the India Administrative service in the year 1985. Sanjeev Chopra was awarded the Robert S McNamara and Hubert H Humphrey fellowships in the year 1998 and 1999 respectively.

The Brookings Institution in Washington DC invites him as a guest scholar. Sanjeev Chopra has been the secretary of various industries like horticulture India. He is also an agriculture expert who has become the Joint Secretary and Mission Director of Department of Agriculture and Cooperation.

He is also an agriculture columnist and writes articles on the recent agricultural trends and developments. He possesses complete knowledge on different aspects of the Indian horticulture industry.

Being an agricultural expert, he received many assignments on rural and agricultural development in major regions of the country. His writing also focuses on various developments which are required in the horticulture sector of India.
